Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic, is also a speech writer. Feminist Frequency is a web site with video and an online blog looking at the portrayals of female characters in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American journalist and critic who has won accolades for her work. She is a feminist blogger. She is the founder and executive director of Feminist Frequency which is an education not-for-profit website that explores representations of women in pop culture narratives. She's committed to removing stereotypes of women as they appear in popular culture. In addition she aims to create the awareness of harassment on social media targeted towards women as well as marginalized groups of people. A graduate in political and social thought at York University Sarkeesian is also an extremely sought-after public speaker and she has delivered speeches at TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and The United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. As a university student Sarkeesian was fascinated by the issue of gender and rights for women in the early stages. Someone who hoped to start a web-series examining the representation of gender in video games was targeted by an online campaign. This attack didn't stop her from pursuing the project, and instead it bolstered the determination of a feminist critic of media. She is a recipient of numerous awards for her contribution to feministism.
