Gunn was born in Cleveland Ohio but moved at an early age and was brought up in Santa Fe New Mexico the daughter of Sharon Anna Kathryn Shana Gunn an interior designer as well as Clemens Earl Gunn Jr. who worked in the field of real estate. Santa Fe Preparatory School graduated her in 1986. She then attended Northwestern University, where she studied theatre and graduated in 1989. Gunn attended an academy called the British American Drama Academy for one semester during the fall of 1988. Pamela Adlon shared a residence with Gunn after she moved into Laurel Canyon Los Angeles. Gunn is best known as the character Skyler White on the AMC Drama Breaking. The actress was nominated in 2013 and in 2014 for an award called the Primetime Emmy Award as Outstanding acting support on a drama show due to her portrayals.
